The death of Osama Bin Laden

This morning I checked news, the top stories of all the news stations were “Osama Bin Laden was killed", and also many people cheered for this news. For America, this was good news, because of him, the Sept. 11 attack happened 10 years ago. It took 10 years for US to track down Bin Laden, and finally yesterday everything was over. I think it is time to send those troops back to their home from Al Qaeda. According to the news, Bin Laden's body was buried in the ocean.

Ten years ago, I was in China. I heard about 911 attacks. This attack did affect a lot of people there, some people feared terrorism. Now, even though I know Laden's death was good news, I cannot understand how most American people feel about this. People were angry because of this10 years ago. Now those people, who had been mad, are relived.

Useful app for NBA fan

Because of school and job, sometimes I could watch the NBA games that I didn't want to miss. Then I heard about a app called NBA game time. So I download it and tried it. I have to say, it is awesome. The NBA game time gives me all the news about NBA, and all the latest game results. You can watch the NBA game on the air by purchasing the membership. You can also watch the games of yesterday for free, so if you missed one favorite game, no problem, just turn on the NBA game time. Also you can watch top 10, and other videos for free. Where else can you find a better app for a NBA fan? This is e best app of NBA.

Umass Amherst

When I first time being searching school online for the college applications, I found Umass Amherst. After viewed its website, I thought that was a school where i want to go. Last week, when i got the letter from Umass Amherst i was so excited.
Here, i want to do some research about Umass Amherst.
first let's watch a video: Why UMass Amherst
The University was established in 1863 as the Massachusetts Agricultural College, located in Amherst. It became known as the Massachusetts State College in 1932 and in 1947 became the University of Massachusetts. The Worcester and Boston campuses were established in 1962 and 1964, respectively. The Lowell and Dartmouth campuses (previously the University of Lowell and Southeastern Massachusetts University, respectively) were consolidated into the University under Chapter 142 of the acts of 1991.
                                                                                                     --UMass Amherst website

UMass Amherst is the flagship of all the UMass. there are 25,000 students on the campus who are from fifty states and 100 countries. The campus offers ninety-three undergraduate programs.
Over all it is a large school.

Located on 1,463 acres in the scenic Pioneer Vally of Western Massachusetts, UMass Amherst provides great cultural environment in a rural placce. this is just a brief introduction of UMass, there are tons of the informations on its website. I can't wait to take a visit to Umass Amherst

Yes, we should be taught Social Media

I just read Why We Should Be Teaching Social Media. It was a great post. The writer's point is obvious. Instead of teaching students how to use blog, teachers should teach them how to use blog in a right way.  The four lessons that the writer found out were pretty impressive. like the first class in the web2.0 class, everyone in the social network has his/her footprint. Once you "send""submit"
something on the internet,  it is there, and you may not delete it. it is so important to think before "send".
yes it is easy to hide behind screen to say whatever you pleased. when we comment on something, we should imagine that the sentence we typed in is what you say to a person face to face. In that way, there will be less trash in our social network.

Glog: Express yourself

Glog is one of the most popular tools in web2.0. It is a tool that you can share the images and poster you've made with your friends. In the homepage of Glog you will find that it is a colorful website. There are rank of the most popular and some new made posters for you to check. The registration is simple and easy. After you enter your own dashboard, it looks like Blogger's dashboard. You can check your new message and view the poster and images. Different with Blogger where people use words to express themselves, Glogster allows you create images to show yourself.
To make a new image, you can click "create a Glogster", and then you will enter a new page where you can make use of your creativity. You can use the resource in this website, or you can also unload your loved picture or your own photos. You can make a poster about anything you like.

The iPad2 is coming

It is exciting that the new iPad is coming out. The 1st generation ipad is cool enough. I cannot imagine how much cooler the iPad2 will be. I've tried the iPad in apple store, and it was awesome. The big screen gives me a better vision. The figure is well designed. Over all it was the best device i had even seen. Now, iPad2 gives me more expectations. The iPad2 will have more new functions for learning, which is good for the students in BHS next year. Though I won't be here next year, I'm still looking forward to the ipad in school. New cover with iPad2 is also great. It will give us different angles for different needs. I believe that both iPad2 and ipad in school will be successful.

This was a busy weekwnd

The last basketball this season ended in Burlington High school wooden gym on the Friday before the vocation. It was senior night, which was a celebration for our captain Ryan Putney, David Whitney and me. We started at that night. It was so great to be a starter. I scored first 6 points of my team. That feeling was fantastic! I would never forget that experience.

Another good thing for me is that now I'm working in the Burlington McDonald's. I worked 6 hours on the first day of my job. I started knowing nothing, and ended up getting hang of something. The manager is a nice person. I think under the help of him i will be a qualified worker.

Having a job means that I can earn money by myself, which allows me to pay the car insurance. Now I can drive to school, basketball and work place easily. I become more independence with a car, i no longer have to rely on my parents or friends give me a ride when i need. Of course, i will be a safe driver.

Celtics these days

As a big Celtics fan who would never miss one Celtics game, here I’d like to talk about the how Celtics doing recently.
Last summer was a painful for Celtics fans and also for Celtics. This season, holding a heart for the world champion, Celtics come back. Half season has gone. Celtics still hold the first place in East, which showed us how bad they want revenge for last summer's lost.
The Celtics look great, Kevin Garnett, my favorite basketball player, finds his youth back and recovers from keen injury. Garnett is the emotional leader of the Celtics, as Paul Pierce said,” we can't win champion without him." Paul Pierce still keeps throwing himself in the paint, and attacks the rim. Paul is still healthy, which is good news for Celtics. Ray Allen, who is on his way to become the best 3-pointer shooter in the NBA history, again and again saves C's in the fourth quarter. Rajon Rondo is still being the assistant machine. Under the light of Big 3, Rondo still comes out with being a new star in the league. Of course, he is the future of Celtics.
As the season goes on, there are some problems that C's will face, or they are already facing. The biggest problem is the injuries.Delonte West is still struggling with his wrist.Shaquille O'Neal hasn't come back yet. Jermaine O'Neal hurts his left knee. A couple games before Marquis Daniels was carried away on a stretcher. The good news was that Kendrick Perkins came back from knee injury, and he is doing well recently. Over all, Celtics still doesn't lack of good players come off the bench to help team. Nate Robinson,Glen Davis, Von Wafer and Luke Harangody are important roles in Celtics.
Half season has gone. Celtics are still in the first place in the Eastern conference. Days ago Miami Heats took the first place from Celtics; however in the 3rd games between Celtics and Heats this season, we beat heats again and took the first place back.

The All star in Los Angeles is coming this weekend, which I cannot wait. The big 3 and Rondo will represent Eastern as reserves in the All star Game. KG is still writing his own history of being All Star in a row. The Truth won the 3-points Champion last years. I'm looking forward what he will do this time. Allen just became that most 3-poiints record maker in the league, you know what he will do in the All Star game. For Rondo, there is no doubt that he will come up with amazing plays. By the way Doc Rivers will be the coach of eastern All Star. What a party of Celtics! I hope all of them will enjoy themselves in the All Star weekend.

Students need phone at school

I was surprised when I heard that our State House is considering banning cell phone at school. I admit that cell phone abstracts students at school, but it is important for students too because kids need to keep in touch with their parents if there is an emergency.
Cell phone is also a useful tool for students either at or out of school. Cell phone could access internet, so it's a main source to get information, news and weather.
Another strong function of cell phone is entertainment. People need to relax, so do students. People can use cell phone to take photos, which could save the great memories between friends. Texting is also an important way of communication in daily life.
Although government could ban cell phones at school, there must be some students who will not follow the rule. Teachers are afraid of students do not listen the class, but forcing them to turn over the cell phone is not a good idea.

My opinions about Student-teacher connection on Facebook

After read the 10 Ways Facebook Strengthens the Student - Teacher Connection, here are some of my thoughts of each way.

1. I agree that sometimes some students are too shy to express their disappointment. However it is much easier to share what you think on Facebook. So Facebook between students and teachers is really helpful.

2. I don't think that letting teacher know too much about your life will be helpful at school. Students need private place to express their feeling. What if you complain something about how ugly your teacher's tie is and you find out that that teacher is watching your wall. How do you face him tomorrow?

3. Yeah, a lot of people added their family members as friends. This is a terrific way to connect family together on the internet.

4. Helping students after school on the Facebook may be a good idea for those students who are struggling in the school works, but for those teachers who worked hours at school, should they go back home, open up Facebook and answer student's questions? Who’s gonna pay for teachers after school?

5. Snow day- update is very important for students. Who want to get up early and go to school, then find out no one is there. But Facebook is not the only way to access the Snow day- update. Like me, I could find the information’s that I need on Twitter by following bhs-alart instead of adding my principle as a friend on Facebook.

6. Yes, Facebook gives students a reason for no excuses; it also gives students a reason for not adding their teachers as friends.

7. I don't know how other students think, but I don't want to connect my teachers on Facebook on snow day.

8. I think Facebook is a place where friends share their new events. Who will think about what you learned after you log on yesterday. I don't agree the "Using Facebook teaches you how to deal the the world"

9. If we use Facebook as a method to communicate with your professor and classmate, it will be a great tool to study the subjects. Students really should use Facebook more as a studying tool.

10. Facebook combined with modern technology does give us more adjustments for changes in our life.

The Education

Q:What are your thoughts on this?
What do you agree or disagree with?
   What surprised you?

After watched this video, I have more thoughts about our education than ever before. As a kid, we listened to our parents to go to school which turns out poison us from a genius to a normal student. The speech tells us a serious problem in America, however, this problem even worse in other countries. I spent 11 years struggling in the Education of China. Though a lot of people think that China has great education, and Asian people are so smart because they got streak A in school. I have to ask, what else? As far as i can see, most causes that offer to students at school are ridiculously hard and are useless after graduate. Although the classes in America are much easier, they work the same way. Students just sit there and face the boring books. Generations after generations, only a little part of children grow up with their creativity. I wish one day the education could change. I believe there must be a revolution about education, and at that time i will do whatever i can to support it. By the way, if i had kids in the future, i hope they can have a totally different education with mine.

Yes, i do agree the points in the video.

The way the speaker builds his points is so interesting. I like the picture he draws in the video. The drawing makes this video perfect.
