The Education

Q:What are your thoughts on this?
What do you agree or disagree with?
   What surprised you?

After watched this video, I have more thoughts about our education than ever before. As a kid, we listened to our parents to go to school which turns out poison us from a genius to a normal student. The speech tells us a serious problem in America, however, this problem even worse in other countries. I spent 11 years struggling in the Education of China. Though a lot of people think that China has great education, and Asian people are so smart because they got streak A in school. I have to ask, what else? As far as i can see, most causes that offer to students at school are ridiculously hard and are useless after graduate. Although the classes in America are much easier, they work the same way. Students just sit there and face the boring books. Generations after generations, only a little part of children grow up with their creativity. I wish one day the education could change. I believe there must be a revolution about education, and at that time i will do whatever i can to support it. By the way, if i had kids in the future, i hope they can have a totally different education with mine.

Yes, i do agree the points in the video.

The way the speaker builds his points is so interesting. I like the picture he draws in the video. The drawing makes this video perfect.

  1. Menghan,

I would be interested to hear more about your experiences as a student inn China. Why do you think people rate the Chinese system of education so much higher if the experience for students is so similar?

Your question made me think more. I assume that the "students" in your question means both Chinese and American students. In my point of view, China is a big country with biggest population in the world. Years ago in China, if you want to live a better life, you need to go to university. Now, with the growing population comes less job position and more competition. going to college is not enough, the only thing matter is which college you go to. Some how fail to go a great college means you life will be more tough. This is the truth in China. i have to say, the high school here, compare to my school in China, is as easy as elementary school. I don't mean the subjects we learn, i mean it gives me more time in a day to do what i want to do. the schedule in China in area i lived was 9:30AM-7:30PM. Is it ridiculous? How many hours does an adult work? Can you imagine that?
